The Inter schools (Soccer)

Yesterday Wednesday the year 7 and 8's and the year 5 and 6 went to the Pt England Reserve to play other schools , we were playing soccer. I was excited and nervous at the same time.We played 5 games and made it to the semi finals. We played Tamaki Primary, Sylvia park, Glen Taylor,St Patrick  and lastly Stonefields. We sadly lost against Tamaki Primary and won all 4 games.  We also drew againest Stonefields. Overall we came 1st place. Our team were very proud of our selves.

Dallas Fisher: 'Hamilton's very experienced at running large events'

 Hamilton is set to host the Rugby Sevens tournament for the next two years, after the event off long-standing host city Wellington. Dallas Fisher is the managing director of 37 South Events in Hamilton.  He spoke to Duncan Garner about how the event will be different to the Wellington Sevens. The Sevens, which have been held in Wellington for 18 years, have lacked individually and audience for the past four.Next year's event will be held on February 3-4. Hamilton Mayor Andrew King welcomes the news 37 South has brought the event to the city through working with World Rugby, New Zealand Rugby and Hamilton City Council. 

Mother's distress over damage to babies' graves

Flowers, wooden crosses and other decorations had been broken and strewn around the children's area of the gardens. Mother Brookie Himiona emailed Auckland Council about the damage on Tuesday afternoon after her daily visit to her daughter's grave.  "I went back early [Wednesday morning] and it was still damaged." Brookie said. Flowers and decorations and the most of the other graves in the children's section were a mess. "We do take full responsibility and will work with all our teams to ensure this does not happen again." Auckland Council says. 

Joseph Parker outpoints Razvan Cojanu to retain WBO world title

Parker out-pointed big Romanian Razvan Cojanu in south Auckland in a frustrating first defence of his WBO world heavyweight title. The judges scored it 119-108, 117-110, 117-110 in a fight where Parker couldn't find the knockout blow. Parker out-boxed the big Romanian to win his first defence of the belt                                                          in Manukau on Saturday night. The Romanian           heavyweight didn't take kindly to questions about Parker v Anthony Joshua.

Do Not Feed Birds Bread!!!

The cost of backyard bird feeding. New Zealanders' passion for feeding the birds costs not only an awful lot of bread, it is not good for our native birds. University of Auckland ecologist Josie Galbraith's PhD research has found that we are feeding the equivalent of five million loaves a year to birds. Her work is one of the first studies in the world to look at the science of bird feeding and the findings have been published in international science journals. People’s kindness could also be killing the birds.  As for feeding our native species, stick to sugar water she says.
