Lunchbox-shaming: a recipe for disaster

 

A note from the South Australian kindy was headlined with an unhappy face and has been sharing it on the media on both sides of the Tasman after it was posted on Facebook on February 2. The note reads: 'Your child has chocolate slice from the Red Food category today. Please choose healthier options for kindy'. During an on air discussion on Breakfast today, Faitaua took exception with the note saying treats like the chocolate slice are OK "in moderation". Room 11s syndicate assembly

On Monday Room 11 hosted the syndicate assembly for our assembly we had song competitions. We picked all sorts of students from each class to sing their song. Most of them picked How far ill go by Moana. They all had beautiful voices. The judges Dakbai and Teremoana thought Room 12 was the best.

Tabloids

 Last week Wednesday Ruapotaka school started tabloids. Parents came with tents and chairs to sit down and enjoy tabloids. We were lucky because we got houses. I was in the kakariki house. My group did all sorts of sports. The groups were whero, kakariki, kikorangi and kowhai. They were all the maori colors and words.

Richie McCaw flying against the fire

Former All Blacks captain Richie McCaw says seeing the devastation caused by the Christchurch Port Hills fire has been a reality check.

"Jeepers, when you see flames burning so close to the city it's scary stuff," he told The AM Show.

McCaw has been flying missions since the fires broke out on Monday. McCaw, who began working at Christchurch Helicopters after he retired from the All Blacks in 2015, says it's a rewarding job.

"I'm hugely passionate about flying. I think the big thing that I've enjoyed especially around the earthquakes, and now this, is you're actually flying to help people."

He says the death of helicopter pilot Steve Askin, who crashed while fighting the fires on Tuesday, was a huge shock which most people still haven't had time to process

UPDATE: Dive squad called into Lake Rotoiti search

The Police National Dive Squad is on its way to Lake Rotoiti to help look for a person who was seen to "go under" on Lake Rotoiti yesterday.

Police have confirmed this morning they are still looking for a 48 year old man but said they were unable to release specifics to the media.

A police media spokeswoman said this morning a witness had seen someone "go under" at about 3.45pm on Lake Rotoiti yesterday.

The Rotorua Daily Post went to Lake Rotoiti yesterday and saw the Coastguard and other boats in the area between Curtis Rd and Lake Okataina Rd."We have had three more divers join us from Wellington today, making the total six."

The family of the missing man was later on happy to hear he was found
